If you are a huge fan of the now defunct band As Tall As Lions like I am, then you might be familiar with the names Julio Tavarez and Cliff Sarcona. After ATAL amicably split up back in 2010, the pair teamed up with another bandmate to form the experimental band Kilimanjaro, a name they have continued to make music under for the past few years. Recently, Tavarez and Sarcona joined musical forces and decided to take a slight detour from their spinoff 3-piece outfit and formed an exciting new project called THEblack&THEwhite. The band’s first single, “Future”, was unleashed on the world yesterday and I have to say I like what I am hearing.
“Future” is a bouncy tune infused with an electro style dance beat that I found myself bobbing my head to halfway through the track. The intro is a little longer than a lot of songs I hear these days but I think it is the perfect start up piece in the overall structure of the song. The guitar, keyboard and bassline combination of sounds work great in building my anticipation for the first lyrical moment of the track. When that time comes and the lead vocals kick in, I feel the sheer intensity of every single element down to the smallest detail and that’s an amazing feeling to experience. This song is just the beginning for THEblack&THEwhite in my humble opinion and I believe their “Future” looks extremely bright!
