The Half Earth ~ Borders

THE HALF EARTH artwork!

Who is THE HALF EARTH?  Talented musician Conor Stephenson from Blackpool, along with keyboardist Ben Alexander Walter, who are emerging out of a dynamic Sheffield music scene!

My first impression of “Borders” : An intense and sweeping track with meandering waves of deep-rooted emotions!

My take :  Some songs bring a story or an idea to life in front of me where I can actually recognize it, while others like “Borders” make me feel like I am a part of some experience even though it may not be clear what.  From the onset, the steady pounding of the drums that sound almost like part of a Native American war dance, seem to beat in unison with my heartbeat pumping out of my chest. Along with every triumphant swell of lyrical decisiveness and then uncertainty, THE HALF EARTH uses a pristine melancholic vocal delivery to push me further into a beautiful sounding scenario of conflicting thoughts and bursts of self-awareness.  Where I can sense the internal struggle to move forward and the inner fight to break free from whatever mental roadblocks that still bind me.  “Borders” has a nice push and pull vibe that keeps me on edge of my seat, easily swaying my almost weightless self towards a boundary that may or may not be real.  Knowing I just have to get there in the end!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
