I have to admit that I have been drawn to listening and to writing about slower songs lately with unique kinds of energies but sometimes I just want to rock out. And punk rock band SUNKEN MONKEY and their track “This Town’s Too Big (For The Both Of Us)” allows me to do just that. Cut from the same musical cloth as say Rise Against and NOFX, SUNKEN MONKEY is a high energy 4-piece band from Burnley that bring back fun memories of yesterday. Where a huge mob of people going crazy at a live show, pushing and shoving and letting it all go, was something I actually looked forward to. SUNKEN MONKEY has an in your face type of style I am a big fan of and this song is the perfect example of that. The track is infectious, straightforward and unrelenting. Leaving me to feel the lyrics in a way that is personal even though the actual situation might not mean anything to me. “This Town’s Too Big (For The Both Of Us)” is a song that doesn’t really break the mold in being innovative or unique, but it does evoke a clear vibe blowing off some steam in a having a good time kind of way. And who couldn’t use a little bit of that.
“This Town’s Too Big (For The Both Of Us)” is the latest single off of a solid ‘Party Scars’ album released in early October. I highly recommend picking up the album here!
