There is another great sound coming out of the talent rich London music scene and it comes from an alternative electronic outfit known as STILLS. After meeting at a St. Martins College of Art party back in 2011, Felix and Andree joined forces to create their own brand of music free of the common restraints found in a lot of modern groups today. Combining Felix’s skills on the guitar and keyboards with the song writing prowess of Andree, the eclectic pair have already caught the attention of some nationally renowned artists including electronic powerhouse Groove Armada. Their latest song, “Saturated State”, should garner them a lot more deserved attention.
“Saturated State” opens up with a fantastically chaotic run of the keys that pushes a nice upbeat tempo around the track. Andree’s lead vocals are delicately powerful and command attention with well timed mini bursts of singing aggression. The synth work adds just enough heaviness at various points in the song to keep everything interesting and is a solid embellishment to the overall feel of the track. “Saturated State” simply has a beautiful intensity about it that is impossible to ignore.
STILLS seem to have the style and the ingenuity to be an electronic force to be reckoned with but only time and new tunes will make this all clear. Be on the lookout for their upcoming EP which should be out real soon and check them out on the festival circuit this year highlighted by their appearance at Standon Calling opening for the likes of Aluna George, Bastille and De La Soul.
