SOHN became one of my favorite experimental electronic artists last year when the insanely creative “The Wheel” crossed my ear-waves. Since then, the London/Vienna based producer has successfully dropped a few original songs and has put his own spin on hot tracks from Banks and Laura Mvula, but nothing has grabbed me in quite the same way. Until “Bloodflows”, the latest SOHN creation that comes alive with a brilliant blend of styles and textures I have now come to love.
“Bloodflows” opens up gently with over a minute of lightly layered synth expressions I can only describe as mesmerizing. The vocals are full of warmth and feeling with a subtle intensity I can feel building across the track. As the bass kicks in, I hear the emotions growing and steadily climbing into a beautiful explosion of blended beats, jarred rhythms and heart thumping chopped up vocals. It’s easy to get captivated in the gorgeous tones resonating from “Bloodflows” and I could not be more impressed with the track. I just hope it doesn’t take another five months for SOHN to pull me in again.
