I have been a loyal follower of the Kitsuné Maison compilations over the years and I have discovered an surprising amount of great musicians on them that I might not have heard about otherwise. One of the newer artists to catch my ear is the French pair REFLEX and their remix of Shindu’s “Just Go” is fantastic. The Southern France duo has been dropping creative remixes over the past year spreading their signature Seadisco style to any dancefloor willing to listen. Armed with their own version of “Just Go” in hand, I think more dancefloors are.
REFLEX does a great job of turning up the tempo just enough with “Just Go”, transforming the track from a seductive electro pop tune to a ‘get out of your seat’ French house party shaker. The standout element of the rework has to be the waves of synth sounds raining across the meaty parts of the song. The original vocals of Shindu are worked in nicely around dense and chunky basslines. Overall, the blend of Synthpop, Nu Disco and Balearic sounds(described as the sand, the sea, the sky and the sun of their natural habitat) induce a feeling of euphoria I would have no problem experiencing over and over again.
Ludmila Cassar and André Dalcan are the creative minds behind the interesting musical style of REFLEX and I am now a fan of anything Seadisco. Check out the Just Go (Remixes) EP released last December if you are ever in a “Just Go” mood like me someday!
