Pr0files ~ Call Yourself A Lover!

Pr0files Call Yourself A Lover Artwork!

I want to give a big shout out to The Burning Ear for premiering “Call Yourself A Lover” earlier this week by new electro-pop duo Pr0files.  A friend of mine pointed me in that direction and I am happy I decided to give it a listen.  “Call Yourself A Lover” is the wavy debut track of Danny Sternbaum (Baby Monster member) and Lauren Pardini, and the L.A. pair create quite an enticing first impression.  I enjoy tracks with the musical power to take me back to the 80’s and the early 90’s where new wave style music ruled and this track has a way of putting me right back into that craze.  Armed with a steady beat and some absolutely sexy synth work, Pr0files throws me right smack dab into the middle of a story about a deceptive relationship that has come and gone away.  The vocal performance by Pardini is incredibly beautiful and undeniably poignant evoking feelings of anger, betrayal and a sad realness I can easily relate to.  As the song comes to an end, I am also overcome with a sense of relief and a feeling of renewed strength which caught me by surprise but in a good way.  “Call Yourself A Lover” is masterfully produced and is a fantastic introduction to the new band. It’s also a delicious first taste of  ‘Jurassic Technologie’,  a new album set to drop sometime next year.  Pr0files has a sound I am easily a new fan of and I look forward to hearing where they take me next!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
