Sometimes I listen to a song and I just like it. “Best of Friends” by Palma Violets is exactly that type of song. Taking it back to the classic garage rock sound era, Palma Violet delivers an intensely satisfying audible experience led by the almost shrieking vocals of frontman Sam Fryer. Sounding somewhat like a blend of Jim Morrison and Wu Lyf’s Ellery Roberts, Fryer’s intensity carries “Best of Friends” along an underlying wicked bassline courtesy of bassist Chilli Jesson. Pete Mayhew, keyboards, and Will Doyle, drums, round out the up and coming quartet from the Lambeth district in central London. Recently they supported the Alabama Shakes and have been playing various shows across south eastern London. I feel they have a lot of potential for growth and to catch on internationally. They will embark on a UK tour come October so if you’re in the area check them out. You are bound to have a great time!
