Milky Chance ~ Stolen Dance!

Milky Chance Artwork!

The first time I listened to “Stolen Dance” by German artist MILKY CHANCE, it reminded me a lot of the Asaf Avidan’s  song “One Day/Reckoning”.  But in almost every way both tracks are completely different from one another.  “Stolen Dance” has a similar easy-going and catchy rhythm yet packs a much more powerful lyrical punch avoiding an over reliance on repetitive phrasing.  The guitar playing is vibrantly crisp and beautifully clear lightly dancing on top of the beat.  I really like the tone of the vocals, nicely alternating between high and low sections with noticeable ease.  It doesn’t hurt to sound a little like Citizen Cope without the southern twang either.  “Stolen Dance” just puts me in a good mood no matter what is actually intended.

MILKY CHANCE has built quite a following in Germany and across Europe and it will be interesting to see if I hear any musical noise from him here in the states.  I guess I will sit back and wait to see what happens.  “Stolen Dance” is one released single from an upcoming MILKY CHANCE album titled Sadnecessary, due out in stores on May 31st.  It looks like it will be a good one I will make a point to check out!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
