Maribou State & Pedestrian ~ Mask!

I have been a huge fan of MARIBOU STATE for a while now and their track “Scarlett Groove” still ranks as one of my favorite songs of 2012.  MARIBOU STATE reemerges from the successful afterglow of their fantastic Scarlett Groove EP with “Mask”, a melodic and down tempo tune music lovers will undoubtedly spread around like wildfire.  “Mask” was made in collaboration with PEDESTRIAN, a great UK electronic music producer in his own right, and the pairing once again churns out another ear pleasing tune.   Having previously worked together on standout tracks like “Rush Don’t Run” and “Doo Wop” (their Lauren Hill reinterpretation), was there really any doubt!

“Mask” starts out with a short and soft tribal like chant which caught me a little off guard for a moment.  However, as the song plays out the intro is rather genius if you think about it.  The tempo is fluid throughout bouncing around beautifully constructed electronic layers of sounds and a steadily smooth bassline.  The vocals are somewhat subdued and at times a little monotone but it fits perfectly with the overall feel of the song.  “Mask” is a solid tune and is definitely a song that should be embraced by true electronic music fans!  Pick up “Mask” on the forthcoming ‘Friends Will Carry You Home Too’ compilation out soon.

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
