Long Distance Runners ~ Waiting For The Tide!

Long Distance Runners!

There is something very personal and so powerfully real about the debut track “Waiting For The Tide” by new 4-piece band LONG DISTANCE RUNNERS.  It almost feels like I am listening to my very own journal entry being read out loud to me.  I love the simple raw feel of the instrumentation and how I can relate to the intimate authenticity of the vocals.  As I listen to the lyrics, they take me back to those times in my past where I came face to face with a crossroad.  Where I sat back to look at my options and really didn’t know which way to go.  But I remember feeling the want and the need to move somewhere.  In any direction, trying not to worry about if it’s right or wrong.  “Waiting For The Tide” is the type of song that conjures of images of taking a step forward out of the mud, carrying along fear, uncertainty and a sense of optimism into the unknown.  And just trying to reach out towards someone or something that feels better than where I have been.  For me, “Waiting For The Tide” is about moving away from standing still.  And finding the courage and the strength from within to do so.  Because in reality, life is way too short not to!

LONG DISTANCE RUNNERS is the intriguing creation of friends Christoffer Englund, Martin Ekman, Erik Östholm and Daniel Borg.  Their first EP ‘We Will Never Know’ is now available and I am eager to give it a full listen.  From the teaser on their Soundcloud page it looks like it will sound quite good!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
