It’s the weekend and what better way to enjoy it than listening to a great house track with a fresh new spin. French students Cédric & Edgar started making music together as KLINGANDE at the end of 2012 and I am glad they did. Their latest release, “Jubel”, has made waves across Europe and has definitely made a positive impression on me. “Jubel” is a fun track for me to listen to plain and simple. From the island and calypso-like drum opening and closing to the gorgeous fluttering keyboard runs, the song exudes a feeling of just having a good time. There are a lot of new textures and layers of sound I am not used to hearing in a typical house track and including the saxophone is absolutely brilliant. I love all the passion and all the emotions I feel with each powerful sax blow. It’s as if the sax is telling a story all by itself. The tone of the vocals are both beautiful and underutilized in my opinion but add just enough contrast to be a nice addition on top. The counting of the beats in the middle of the track is the only part that really seems out-of-place to me. But maybe it is an attempt to give the song more of a live performance feel. Only my speculation of course. All in all, I think KLINGANDE has a lot of potential to do big things in the music world and “Jubel” is another step in the right direction. Well done! I look forward to seeing what else they have in store!
