If you haven’t heard a BLUE VERSION rework yet you have definitely been missing out. Having tackled “What You Need” from the Aussie producing powerhouse known as Flume as well as “Always” from the talented UK favorite Maths Time Joy, BLUE VERSION proves he has a fantastic taste in music. “Thin Line” by the legendary hip hop group Jurassic 5 is the next in line and the innovative interpretation of the track propels the rising experimental producer to a whole new level.
The tempo of “Thin Line” is slowed down quite a bit and the new relaxed style is smoothly addicting. The female vocals on the track come courtesy of Nelly Furtado and they provide a nice splash of color across the track the way they are used. One of the most interesting elements is the almost dramatic like pause incorporated right in the middle of the song. It’s as if the repeat button was already pressed down and the song automatically starts over from the beginning. Now that’s pretty cool. The classic flow of J5 is on full display and a short story of two friends toeing that “Thin Line” never sounded so good.
BLUE VERSION is just getting into the game but the early returns seem to point towards more great recreations in the near future. Check out BLUE VERSION’s soundcloud page if your in the mood for more solid ‘blue’ flavored tracks!
