Some of the best music comes from bands or groups that seem to appear overnight like the new pop up restaurant craze. And many times they disappear in same way after causing a stir. JUNGLE throws its name into this mix having jumped into the London music scene seemingly out of nowhere with two amazing tracks. “Platoon” has to be one of the most soulful electronic numbers I have heard all year. There is all sorts of alluring textures and layers of sound being woven together into one beautifully put together track. It’s a bit mysterious and quirky on the outside with gobs of feel good electronic vibes rolling around within. On the other hand, “Drops” slows it down a little but is every bit as gorgeous as “Platoon”. There is a nice blend of swirling keyboard melodies with intermittent splashes of soulful guitar expressions that dance ever so lightly on top of a steadying beat. I love how I can hear all the random sounds throughout the track when I close my eyes, like the sound of a door opening and closing over and over again. It’s quite a unique enhancement to an already great song giving me a sense I can have a whole new experience every time I sit down and listen to it. JUNGLE may be a group working the mysterious angle right now but I am totally intrigued. Here’s to hoping they stick around long enough to cause another stir!
