IRO ~ Sun

IRO Sun Artwork!

Who is IRO?  He is Ori Rakib, a brand new NYC based artist, at least under the IRO moniker, who has been known to wow crowds on the streets of Brooklyn!

My first impression of “Sun” A shimmery yet bouncy track sending out a Milky Chance type of vibe with some interesting dark undertones!

My take : IRO is one of many fascinating musicians I have had the pleasure of being introduced to, since I started this crazy writing gig a few years ago, that I probably would never have heard about otherwise.  The talented 28-year old singer/songwriter from New York is trying to broaden his musical reach and with his upbeat style track “Sun”, it seems he is well on his way.  “Sun” comes across to me as a love song so to speak, with a lot of different interpretations.  As depicted in the thought-provoking official video for the track, just being in the “Sun” brings back the carefree days of my youth.  Where I worried more about just having fun and not all the other boring stuff grown ups think about.  But just as everything feels carefree and light, deeper lyrics like “I tease myself with my hand on the gun” changes the mood in an instant.  Pushing the vibe into more of a cautionary tale mode, of living life without all the frivolous stuff holding me back.  By listening to the incredibly introspective “Sun”, IRO is able to remind me that life is too short and it is up to me to make the most of it!

TMH RATING: 7.5/10 Very Good!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
