Inspired & the Sleep ~ Sink

Inspired & The Sleep Coming Up For Air Artwork!

Who is INSPIRED & THE SLEEP?  A solo project of songwriter Max Greenhalgh (bass, vocals) that has transformed into a San Diego 3-piece always evolving psychedelic indie pop outfit with the additions of Bryce Outcault (guitar and keys), Andrew Bailey (drums), and sometimes others!

My first impression of “Sink” A brilliant indie pop song with a whimsical like collision of dancing textures giving me an idea of what it might sound like to freeze time!

My take : I am a native San Diegan so it’s great to hear and to interpret a fantastic band from a place I love so much.  When I listen to INSPIRED & THE SLEEP, I hear everything I enjoy about SoCal.  From the sunshine and beaches to the laid back vibes and carefree attitudes, it’s all there in one way or another.  On their latest track “Sink”, it’s in the breezy beat of the drums, the casual airy vocals and the jovial blend of different guitars giving me an almost relaxed reggae type of vibe overall.  As dictated in the imaginative ‘Cinemagraph’ style video for the song, “Sink” comes across as a kind of dreamlike scenario.  Where at that perfect moment or when enough is enough, I could stop time and change the course of my life in an instant.   And maybe have some fun at the expense of everyone else around me.  It’s playfully amusing and mischievously clever with a little slap of reality for those who might need to be smacked out of that daily haze!

TMH RATING: 7.6/10 Very Good!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
