Hold Fast For Now ~ Horizon!

Hold Fast For Now Artwork!

In the ever-changing world of technology and electronic music, styles and techniques are always in constant motion.  Like so many other modern producers today, Adelaide’s Darryl Bennett and David Rogers, otherwise known as new electronic duo HOLD FAST FOR NOW, are developing their own distinct musical identity almost exclusively by passing files back and forth across the internet.  And with their track “Horizon”, the early return from their chosen technique is smoothly encouraging.

My first thought when I listen to “Horizon” is how laid back and chill the overall vibe is even though there are moments where I can feel a push from within to break free.  Amidst an intense fusion of big beats, electronic sounds and manipulated vocals, there is an underlying cool that resonates across the whole song.  I love how I can hear new words each time I listen to the track.  Just like those books I used to read as a child where choosing a different answer at certain points takes me to a new part of the book and a brand new experience.  “Horizon” to me, is filled with optimism and a sense that anything is possible.  It’s all out there for the taking.  But it’s up to me to make it happen.

HOLD FAST FOR NOW dropped a solid self titled debut EP back in November and it is already turning some heads.  Pick up the impressive EP for free here.  And be sure to check out the Moby-like sounding “How Long”.  It’s another good one!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
