The unique and creative style of inventive Leeds producer FAVELA first caught my attention back at the beginning of this year with the amazing “Pyor” track and amidst extraordinary anticipation, his latest creation does so again. “Easy Yoke” opens with a beautifully short violin solo that sounds almost like a record playing on an old school turntable with subtle and well placed skips and jumps. As the drums kick in, I find it easy to drift away into a gorgeously melodic soundscape full of catchy beats, tight guitar strums and intermittent electronic glitches. I love how refreshing it feels to hear and to breathe in all the odd and entertaining bursts of interesting sounds that seem to be coming at me from all different directions. The vocals are smoothly inquisitive giving the song a more serious and purposeful tone but manages to stay away from becoming too drab. “Easy Yoke” is an impressive production and shows tremendous growth in a short period of time. And it just might climb onto my shortlist of favorite electronic tracks to come out this year!
“Easy Yoke” is the title track and second release from an upcoming EP set to drop sometime next year. Following the more ambient yet hard-hitting “Sunlight” track, the talented FAVELA is starting to flex his musical muscles more prominently to the world. Let’s just hope this is only the beginning!
