Chai Khat ~ Ghosts In The Void!

Chai Khat Ghosts In The Void Artwork!

After taking a week off from writing, I have decided to jump back in the game with “Ghosts In The Void”, a great track from the Brooklyn trio CHAI KHAT.  There is not a lot of information out there about CHAI KHAT, as they have only started making music this year, but the early returns are very promising.  “Ghosts In The Void” packs a powerful musical punch with mind-bendingly dreamy synths, ear tingling guitar rhythms and a driving bass guitar post punk-like groove that had me bobbing my head from the beginning.  The vocals are bold and in my face putting a proper voice to the underlying emotion brewing within the track.  Their energy is highly contagious and I love almost everything about their sound.   I hear many different bands in different places throughout the song, like some flashes of the EDITORS here, or a cross between THE CURE and LCD SOUNDSYSTEM there.  But their overall sound is uniquely their own.  “Ghosts In The Void” is without a doubt, a solid debut for CHAI KHAT that has me wanting to hear more.  I think others will feel the same way too!

“Ghosts In The Void” is the titled track from a nicely crafted 4-song EP available now for immediate download on the band’s Bandcamp page (link provided below) which I highly recommend.  I really enjoyed the track “New Friends” as well so take some time to have a listen.  And be on the look out for that 7″ release hopefully out real soon!

Born in sunny San Diego and raised in central Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois @Urbana-Champaign and spent the better part of 10 years in sunny Phoenix Arizona after graduation. I now reside in Savoy IL and I try to make it up to the Chicago music scene as much as I can. Music has always been a part of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
